I'm excited to share with you that this week Scrapbook Circle is teaming up with The Cut Shoppe to bring you loads of inspiration using the June Have a Little Fun Kit plus our favorite cut files from The Cut Shoppe. First, a deal for everyone this week:

In addition to those great savings the week of the hop, hop along with our Scrapbook Circle team and comment as you go. We will be selecting a winner from all of the blog hop comments to receive $20 to The Cut Shoppe. Be sure to stop by The Cut Shoppe blog and hop along to see what their team created with our June kit. Comment on The Cut Shoppe hop and you are entered to win one of our June Kits from Scrapbook Circle!

Here's my page:

The state die cuts inspired me to scrapbook the story of my husband and me meeting. It's a story that spans the country and ended up in the Mall of America. I cut Idaho and Maine (our home states) fairly small, and then I enlarged Minnesota to fill the page. Here's some details:

Thank you for visiting! Here's the rest of the Scrapbook Circle hop:

Gina
Jennifer (that's me!)

Hope you are inspired to scrapbook as you blog hop here at Scrapbook Circle and then over at The Cut Shoppe!

New Pages at Scrapbook Circle: Hello Sunshine!

Hello! It's National Scrapbook Day, and I'm happy to share my pages that I made with the Scrapbook Circle May kit. Before I do, I want to share this wonderful opportunity:

Today Scrapbook Circle is having a hop on Instagram to celebrate National Scrapbook Day and their 9th anniversary! You have a chance to win one of five kits this weekend. The design team is doing an Insta Round Robin starting at 9 A.M. CST where you can visit the team's feed and be inspired with creations from the May kit. Scrapbook Circle will be selecting five kit winners from names of those who comment on team members' photos. Just tap the photo to see who to visit next! You will start at Scrapbook Circle's Instagram page.

And here's the pages I made with the kit:

I've had this photo of the boys for a while, not knowing what to do with it. Now that they are leaving elementary school, this shot of them at school with a rainbow behind them seemed a good photo to use on a page that looks back and looks ahead. The colors in the May kit fit perfectly with the colors in the photo. Design tip: the printables fit just right in the photo frames from the main kit!

Next is a page about my favorite things:

Mind you, I don't normally take photos like this of myself, but I had just gotten my phone back after having it repaired. (I had dropped it in the toilet--taking it out of my pocket, a bent edge of my case hooked my pocket, where it then flew out of my hands and into the drink. Sigh.) I trimmed the photo up to look like a Polaroid. LOVED layering all the bright and happy colors with this. The Sweet Day add-on and the Hello Love Add-on served me well here.

I found the letter stickers to be easier to use after I outlines them. And the layers I stitched, something I haven't done before, but I'm going to do again. Loved the look!

Now I have a  two-page layout used with some of the more masculine hues in the kit. I had 12 photos, and they were pretty dark, so I printed them small and lay them on a big random pile. Just for interest, I had the wood stretch over the page break.

Finally, the page I'm sharing on Instagram today. Since May is the month we celebrate mothers, I wanted to make a page to celebrate my Grandmother Henri, Great Granny Rahn to the boys. She is GORGEOUS and still so creative, even though she is over 90 years old. I used delicate, frilly patterns and bright, happy colors on this page, and I really dipped into the Hello Love Add-on  and Sweet Day Add-on for this page:

Thank you for checking out my pages! Now if you haven't yet, go to the Scrapbook Circle Instagram page and start the hop! It begins at 9 A.M. CST today.

Scrapbook Circle and PageMaps blog hop!

Welcome to our Scrapbook Circle Blog Hop! This month Scrapbook Circle has a new kit and a new team, and we're celebrating! You could win one of five August kits by commenting as you hop from blog to blog, meeting the team of Scrapbook Circle. If you just left Sarah Zenger's blog, you are in the right place. If not, please join us for the entire hop by starting at the Scrapbook Circle blog, here.

For those of you who don't know me: I am Jennifer Larson, a high school English teacher who is a wife to an RPG gamer and a mother to two Minecraft-Lego-Star Wars crazed boys.I was born in Maine but have lived in Minnesota since college. I started my crafting life as a cross-stitcher when I was a child, then fell into cardmaking in 1998 and scrapbooking in 2002. In addition to scrapbooking and cross-stitching, I love to read, run, and garden. Plus, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the best TV show. Ever.

Here's my page that I'm sharing for the hop:

I used the two-page sketch from August Page Maps for this layout:

I kept the orientation much the same, but I replaced some design elements with goodies from the August Scrapbook Circle kit, Island Paradise. I used bits from both embellishment add-ons: the Bungalow add-on I dipped into for the flair, and the Elle's Studio die-cuts and  Basic Grey chipboard I used from the Tiki Torch add-on (my favorite!).

To be eligible for the chance to win an Island Paradise kit, please leave a comment below and continue on to the next designer's blog, Diana Fisher, and enjoy the layouts through the rest of the hop! Remember, comments for the hop end Monday, August 4th at 9:00 p.m. Pacific.

I can't wait for my strawberries to get ripe, they are just starting to get red! I think my favorite thing about summer is getting my hands dirty. I just love playing in the dirt, floating down the creek at our camp site and reading fun books. I too am relishing in the fact winter has finally past!

Ladies, please email me at jennyrahnlarson at yahoo dot com so that I can send you the winners' certificates!

Big Picture Classes fun--and a giveaway!

I love Big Picture Classes--I've shared my inspiration from the classes many times. Recently I was asked to contribute to the reboot of The Art + Science of Scrapbooking. Here were the pages I'd made and posted earlier for this class:

And here are some peeks at what I did this time:

I loved this class because it helped me figure out how to try new techniques and new approaches while staying true to myself, and I was truly honored to have been asked to contribute.

Now that I've shared some of what I've done before, here's a giveaway! And it's a big one:

There are THREE amazing classes coming up at Big Picture: Here & There Inspiration, Going Places, and The Phone Photography Project 2. I linked those classes up so you can read what they are about. I have a giveaway for a seat in each class!

If you are interested, please leave a comment on this post telling me what you are looking forward to this summer (after the Polar Vortex, I am so ready for summer!). You have until Saturday, June 14 at 8 P.M. CST to leave a comment, and I will select a winner for each class! Check back late Saturday to see if you are a winner.

Now, it's time for me to go outside and do a little gardening...
