A summer of mini albums

I have scrapbooked some layouts this summer, but mostly I've worked on mini-albums. I have a few posts to share.

First are some mini albums I had started but not finished or continued.

The Halloween album I made this year, for example, I had made a mistake on the most recent photo. The ring holes did not match up, so I fixed it by printing a new photo and re-punching the holes. Here it is:

Next, I hadn't recorded the last three years of our family 5K's in the 5K album.

NOTE: I noticed doing this that I had the wrong dates on the album cover. I removed them and will fix it.

The trick about using SMASH! albums is working around the designs. Here's what I did:

I use a few graphic collections: KI, Echo Park, E.G.--to embellish these pages.

Next I added the last couple years of family photos to my Easter album. I should mention I JUST found an older photo I never included This one's not done.

Finally, I made an album with Write. Click. Scrapbook a few years ago about little things that make me happy. I left the last few pages empty, meaning to fill them up but never did. And so I finished it this summer.

I had run out of the brown foam stickers, so I used a similar-toned, similar styled Thicker.

And those are my completed and updated albums! Thank you for checking them out. I made a few more that I will edit and share later. Like I said, this has been the summer of mini-albums.

Fall Back: October gallery for Write Click Scrapbook

Fall has arrived, technically. It was extraordinarily warm as we walked around Lake Harriet in Minneapolis yesterday. Still, fall is here, so I made a page about my favorite things about fall. Yes, there are a lot of memes about this, but none seem to speak to me. I don't like Pumpkin spice, for example. Here's the page I made about my fall faves:

I made this page for Write Click Scrapbook's October gallery, where the theme is fall. I dug into my Project Life cards and found 5 that looked fallish color or pattern-wise, and I used them to back the photo. The background paper my husband selected after I gave him a few choices. Gotta keep him in the game! The rest of the embellishments (wood and puffy stickers) came from fall products I had bought but not often used. And the button? That was an old Basic Grey flower I had for years that I used to cover up something in the photo. Here's some details:

I journaled in a list. It didn't fit in the space I had allowed, but I put a few in the same line, which worked. Something I have to remember...

I had debated putting more embellishments on the page, but from experience, I've learned that I always regret adding those extra embellishments, so I didn't. Keeping it simple.

New scrapbooking pages at Write Click Scrapbook

Some more scrapbooking I did this past month included working some pages up for Write Click Scrapbook. We took a summer break and are back with weekly blogging. Stop by for some inspiration!

During the Olympics, we had some events ourselves. Here's a page I made as a part of a relay race:

I LOVED the bright green in the Rio Olympics (well, not in the pool). I used it as a pop of color on this otherwise mostly yellow-and-neutral page.

I am trying to use my Project Life cards more. These are from Pinkfresh Studio, as are the wood stickers. I like using them to frame the photo.

Next, my gallery page about my scrapbooking group and our mini-vacations to the Pine City Scrapbooking Company:

I used travel papers for this, which made it easy to design, digging into just one Iris container for my supplies.

Write Click Scrapbook and my sons' favorite page

Hello! I wanted to share a page that my sons called their favorite.

When we were in Chicago last month, we visited the Art Institute. While there, we encountered a painting with a wonderful beard. Since my husband also has a wonderful beard, this inspired a series of photos. I printed them small, thinking I'd put them in a row on a page, then found in my stash a piece of lovely frame paper by Studio Calico. This page was then born:

When I had the page sitting on my scrap table (my lap desk), my son walked by, did a double take, and heaped compliments on it, declaring it his favorite. My youngest concurred. I don't think it's the most technically advanced page I've done, but it's certainly whimsical, and it matched the pictures well. I guess this goes to show that the best stories for the family are the best stories, not necessarily the most well crafted pages, Good to remember

What I love: Write Click Scrapbook February gallery

February is pretty much owned by Valentine's Day. If you've been here before, you know I dislike scrapbooking the holiday. Still, Love is in the air this month, so for Write Click Scrapbook this month, I scrapbooked about my family's love for play.

One good thing about February: scrapbooking love gives me an excuse to use up as much pink on a page as I can. (Note: I used the background paper upside down. I liked the triangles better that way, but the writing in the right is upside down. Grrr.)

I love those button flowers from K & Co. They are old. I probably bought about 5 packets of them. I'm down to my last packet now.

Happy New Year at Write Click Scrapbook!

Hello! It's a new year and a new gallery at Write Click Scrapbook. The theme is "My On Trend," which is a chance for us to share what our personal trends are. Here's my page:

I had the piece of striped brown paper, which was from an old Studio Calico kit, lying around. I got the idea for the page when I printed the photo of my husband and thought to pair it with the mead photo I had already printed and not used for my favorite photos page. I tossed the two photos on top of this paper to get it out of the way, liked the way they looked together, and went from there. This is, by the way, a typical way of creating non-kit pages for me.

Here's some details:

So what makes this page typical for me and my style/trends?

1. Journaling strips (of course)
2. Sewing
3. Different sizes and fonts for the title
4. Patterned paper mixes, especially the 2/3 and 1/3 split
5. More than one photo
6. A circle

I am not the only one who does these things, but these trends make me happy, so I do them a lot without qualms. Scrapbooking should make you happy.

Hello! I am scrapbooking on Write Click Scrapbook this week highlighting favorites. Today I'm scrapbooking my favorite photos of the year. I use the same design every year, which simplifies the process, and simple is good. Here's the page:

I used remnants from my December Scrapbook Circle kit, plus some letter stickers and background paper, which I was running low on. I picked yellow for the paper, my favorite color.

December gallery for Write Click Scrapbook

December is upon us, and so is the new gallery at Write Click Scrapbook! The theme is holiday favorites, andI had one lone holiday photo unscripted that fit the theme. Here's the page:

I suppose it's fitting that I scrapbook this photo now with the new Star Wars coming out in a couple weeks. I hope you can tell the joke in the page--it's Christmas Lights, with {abers} added after the S just like my sons added Star Wars to the manger.

I also used my favorite scrapbooking products--embellishments, especially stickers and die cuts. No patterned paper this page!

It's NO-vember at Write Click Scrapbook

Mmmm...November gallery for Write Click Scrapbook

Hello! The month of November is upon us, and, appropriately, the November Write Click Scrapbook gallery will focus on food. Here's my page:

This was one of my favorite pages I've made recent;y. The photos were so colorful, and the papers were so bright and fresh. The blue plaid came from a Fancy Pants Designs line called Be Different, and the rest of the paper and stickers came from October Afternoon's Farm Girl, a line I only bought a few things of, thinking, "I don't vegetable garden! When would I ever use this?!?" Silly me. Here's some details:

I liked stitching down various stickers and elements. The title I had to stick down; the adhesives on the back were not terribly solid.

Write Click Scrapbook October!

At Write Click Scrapbook we took a one month holiday, and now we're back! Today's theme is "Outdoors." Here's my page for the month:

I adore big photos with lots of white space. This photo, which I took at Whitewater S.P., had lots of that, so I journaled in strips about my boys growing up and made a big title embellishment cluster.

How happy was I to make use of that rub-on? Perfect thematically.

New gallery at Write Click Scrapbook

Hello! It's time for a new gallery at Write Click Scrapbook, and the theme this month is SEVEN. It's the seventh month, of course, and this inspiration can apply in many ways: stories about 7, using the number 7 on the page, and so on. I used 7 different products. Here's my page:

If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen this photo. I love it! I chose to use the following seven items (the pen was free):

I love the combo of aqua, pink, and yellow. I think they are joyous, which reflects the boys here.

June gallery for Write Click Scrapbook

This month's gallery for Write Click Scrapbook celebrates our inspiration from the past year. I was inspired by this page from Amy Sorensen:

I love the mix of font styles and sizes on the left. Here's what I did:

I didn't use a computer or stickers. Instead, I pulled out my neglected letter stamps and stitched a couple words to boot. LOTS of mistaken stampings on this page. Embrace the oops! Here's some details, mistakes and all:

I forgot to put a date on my page, so I think I'll put it in these two blank tags under the title.

I was going to stitch in orange, but I thought pink would enrich the color scheme. It's really easy to stitch something handwritten; just handwrite the word, punch holes about 1/4 inch apart, erase the pencil lines, and stitch! I prefer 3 strands of DMC on paper.

May gallery at Write Click Scrapbook: Everydaily

Hello! This first of May brings one of my favorite topics for the gallery at Write Click Scrapbook: Everydailies. For this I made a page about one of my favorite things: reading. Here it is:

I wrote about this page a lot at WCS. A local NPR host requested people to take photos of their bookshelves and tweeting them, calling the #shelfies. I LOVED this idea and made a page about my shelves, which I've taken to school so my students can read.

CREATIVE NOTE: The chevron punched corder was supposed to be even (oops), so I made it more uneven on purpose after I messed up the first time. Happy accident! And here's a detail:
