July pages for Simple Scrapper

Hello! June is winding down, and I wanted to share the pages I made for next month's Simple Scrapper. First, the layout I made that used one of the new sketches for July:

I LOVE this sketch (based on a digital template for those of you digital scrappers). The blocks on the right make it so easy to add more photos if you want. It also solved a dilemma for me: I wanted to scrap my son's play, but my photos were not great (taken in the audience in the dark). This sketch gave me the idea of using his professional head shot on the left and the stage shots, printed smaller, on the right. Here's some details:

Next is the first of two pages I made using July's story starters.I loved the theme for this month, so much that I made two pages from the story starters.

The theme for the gallery involves music. This is a song that takes me back to studying abroad in Germany, hence the picture. (That's me on the right with a bob.) I used the June Scrapbook Circle kit Have a Little Fun Today for much of this page, plus a few Project Life cards and some Jillibean Soup letters for the title. I also used some great Gossamer Blue On My Desk puffy stickers, which if you look close you can also see on the above layout as well. The song in the title you can see here:

It's a terrific song,  with poignant lyrics that perfectly encapsulate youth and growing older and looking back. Here's some details:

The next page I also used a story starter from July, this time a song that brings me back to a moment of joy. Yes, I made another page about Star Wars:

I was inspired by this old photo of my elder son in a cart, which reminded me of the story I journaled about. The last Studio Calico kit was called Galileo, so some elements in the scrapbook kit and Project Life kit were perfect for a Star Wars page: the planet, the "D is for"card, on which I wrote Darth Vader's theme, and the Father's Day paper, which contained the word "Vader," which I circled every time I saw it. The puffy stars came from stash and fit the theme. Here's the details:

Scrapbooking me

I posted a few pages about the boys recently They are my main topics. Here's a couple pages I made recently about me:

I don't automatically scrap Mother's Day, but I had fun this year and got a good picture of the boys, so I made this page. The title I chose (no pun intended) because I got these big letters in a kit without many doubles and this was a word I could make that fit thematically. LOL. My creative choices are sometimes dictated by the product I have. Here's some details:

I like using Project Life cards on my pages. The above shot used a project Life card as a part of a cluster, and in addition to journaling, with the shot below, I punched a design to matchthe circular photos.

I tried stamping on the paper first and didn't like it, so I covered with a tag and used Stazon to stamp on the slick chipboard. Creativity borne of mistake-covering. My general creative MO.

Next a simple page. I usually call this page CURRENTS, but I used the same limited letters, so the title is NOW. :-) I stamped the title because the stamp in this kit had some Currents words; for the ones I wanted to record that didn't have words, I used letter stamps. I didn't have a photo of myself when I made this page, so I made the page and took the photo after. I look OK (I needed a haircut here!) but the sky looks lovely.

Scrapbooking the youngest

Sine I wrote about scrapbooking my eldest I thought I would share some pages about my youngest.

Here is his first page:

When sorting through end-of-year work, I found a sticky note with short and long term goals.I took a photo of it and put it on this page with a recent photo of him.

The next page agin makes use of memorabilia. I again photographed his letter and paired it with a photo of him.

Next is a recent kids' choir performance at church. I had a lot of journaling to do, so I drew some lines in the white space, picked some colors that made me think country (orange and grey and brown) and made this:

Next, a page I blogged about at Write Click Scrapbook: a favorite photo when Dominic was younger:

Finally, my son at a Lego Robotics Camp sat winter. I used the same products/colors as my eldest's computer page I shared in my last post:

My son did the journaling. It's brief, but it's a record of what he loved.

Scrapbooking the eldest

Now that the school year is over, I have more time. (I should asterisk that: I have brought home many assignments to update, lessons to create, flipped classroom lessons to record, and so on. Still.) I have made my hybrid summer bucket/to-do list, and one of them is scrapbook, specifically take care of past vacation albums so that I can enjoy scrapbooking the present.

Here's a few pages I made recently about my eldest son:

Grey and yellow are one of my favorite color combos. On this page, it looks techie and happy. I was at the end of a kit with this page, so I dug into stash for die cuts. Here's some details:

Next is maybe my favorite recent page I made about my eldest son and his surprise short hair cut:

Orange and blue are another one of my favorite color combos. I went graphic with this, using mostly Project Life cards to embellish. How perfect is the more/less card?

And here is one final page:

I posted this on Write Click Scrapbook to show a way to save childhood mementos without saving the actual memento. This photo frame my son made at around age 3 was falling apart, so I took a photo and journaed about how much he had grown.

The then/now pin I added from my stash because it seemed to fit. And please note: the G is actually a Y. I cut apart a round, unused letter (probably a Q) and assembled the G when I ran out.

The state die cuts inspired me to scrapbook the story of my husband and me meeting. It's a story that spans the country and ended up in the Mall of America. I cut Idaho and Maine (our home states) fairly small, and then I enlarged Minnesota to fill the page. Here's some details:

June gallery for Write Click Scrapbook

This month's gallery for Write Click Scrapbook celebrates our inspiration from the past year. I was inspired by this page from Amy Sorensen:

I love the mix of font styles and sizes on the left. Here's what I did:

I didn't use a computer or stickers. Instead, I pulled out my neglected letter stamps and stitched a couple words to boot. LOTS of mistaken stampings on this page. Embrace the oops! Here's some details, mistakes and all:

I forgot to put a date on my page, so I think I'll put it in these two blank tags under the title.

I was going to stitch in orange, but I thought pink would enrich the color scheme. It's really easy to stitch something handwritten; just handwrite the word, punch holes about 1/4 inch apart, erase the pencil lines, and stitch! I prefer 3 strands of DMC on paper.
